What a lovely evening for the inaugural ride of Baby Blue. Baby is a 2000 Suzuki SV650 and she is all mine!
After a long day at work that left me exhausted and apathetic, riding was the perfect remedy. A remedy I have been without for far too long. I have gone without riding for 2 months at a stretch, but those times were of my choosing. With the Ninja stolen and wrecked right at the beginning of summer, every beautiful day has been a painful reminder that there were certain pleasures that were not available to me.
That's all behind me now. Baby is a sweet, nimble ride. When my friends were telling me they had the SV for sale, I tried to blow off the offer. Domenico made such a big deal about this being a perfect bike for me; I felt obligated to at least give it a sit and test ride.
The man knows his bikes, and he know me. I should have never doubted as this is indeed a perfect bike for me. Traitorous feelings arise in me when I think of how I might just like Baby better than my old Ninja. I do still miss the Ninja (I have enshrined it's license plan & the Ninja Devil Ducky that TFMK(tm) gave me and I mounted on the tail fairing) but I am no longer pining for it.

And there was much sadness.
I am very sad to report that my adorable purple Kawasaki EX500 was stolen and then crashed last Friday. Some rat bastard stole it, joy rode around for a few hours before trying to evade police by doing 60mph down NW Market. I am perversely pleased to report that after losing control, the thief was ejected from the bike and slid for approximately 70 feet in an undeveloped lot.
I am now bikeless. Well, technically, I still own a bike, I just can't ride it.
It is with a heavy heart that I offer my Ninja up for sale for $300 or first decent offer as a parts bike. Here's the Craigslist ad. Resurrection is not within my budget and I don't have the mechanical where with all to part it out.
Parts that are still good include, but not limited to:
motor (it ran beautifully before the crash; haven't fired it up since)
both rear fairings
front & rear tires (Avon, less than 100 miles on both)
frame (best as we can tell, it looks nice & straight)
instruments
gas tank (has 1 small dent, no damage to paint)
Help me get a jump start on my new bike fund.

Bike porn.
While on a walk, the Mean Man and I came upon an Enfield motorcycle. We couldn't tell if it had been restored, or was a vintage replica. Either way it was gorgeous and it felt a bit sacrilegious that it was parked on the street rather than in a garage. Looking at the bits of rust on the pipes, we discussed proper motorcycle care. The Mean Man burst out, "If I left this bike out on the street, you would chew my ass out for not bringing it into the living room during the winter!"
Damn right I would harass him. Some bikes are art that deserve to be babied and cared for so indulgently.

Limbo
My car might be dying. Looking on Craigslist for the next new-to-me car is a little depressing. The only thing interesting was coming across Domenico's ad proclaiming his race bike is available for purchase. This is truly a hooligan bike. He never bothered to get it tabbed because it's so fast he would just end up getting arrested if he ever rode it on the streets. This was the bike that inspired the quote: "It is possible to giggle like a school girl at 182 mph." At least he is supposed to go that fast on the race track.
Tempting, but, no, that won't work. I already have a motorbike. If I buy another vehicle, it should be one I can haul stuff around in. I wonder if the Ninja would look silly with a side-car?
At least the DVD version of my favourite workout tape arrived so that I can get some regular exercise. Callenetics is something I have done on and off since I was 15. For the longest time I only had the VHS tape, which I snitched from my Mama. It's copyright is 1986, so do keep that in mind when you see the leotards and hear the music. It's great toning workout, though, that focuses on protecting one's lower back. The exercises don't aggravate my lordosis and make my butt look good. Hard to go wrong, there.

Some days...
Vespa 150 TAP

I got this link from the WetLeather email list and am now having fantasies of arming my bike. I don't need artillery that heavy, though. A bazooka that plastered bumper stickers that said things like "I don't use my turn signal because I am an idiot" and the like onto cars would do nicely.
